~= Thought of The Day =~

After another day and dinner… back to my abode
and I open my mailbox…

…guess what…

Hhmm, today there’s a different looking envelope…
okay, so I flippantly tear it open.

OCBC Bank

The world of Titanium offers greater rewards,
control and freedom…
"…we would like to extend you this invitation to
be a part of the exclusive Titanium circle."

Apparently, if it isn’t already obvious by now,
this is some (junk) mail offering me (in their own words) to "Be the
distinguished few to own Titanium and you’ll be able
to enjoy all the delightful pleasures in life…" and YESS!! Be a proud holder
of their exclusive Titanium credit
card
~!

So… headed for the recycle bin it was… but
then, at that moment, I had an epiphany of sorts…

It was just not so long ago that as a child, back
at my home (yes, landed property, yes) that I was unloading the mailbox of mail
and sifting out the junk mail addressed to my dad… exclusive credit card
memberships, "for our valued customer", bla bla bla…

And I thought "Oh wow… I thought only my dad
received mails like this" …….and that seemed like only just
yesterday.
But now, here I am, standing at the postbox, and this kind
of mail is addressed to me… you sort of feel… how do you put it? You have
arrived? Come of age? (Or just… old?) How do you describe it?

After the brief reverie though… although
I’m flattered to be "part of the (perceived-to-be) valued
and selected and exclusive…
" "high-net-worth"(??)
customers… the only thing I’m wondering is, how did they get my name and my
mailing address in the first place. I’m sure as heck that I didn’t disclose any
information to OCBC or any affiliates that could have led to the sending of
anything to me in the first place, much less even hinting that I’m near
anything that qualifies me to be shortlisted to their "exclusive"
list.

And so, still off the invitation goes into the
recycle bin… *Yawn*

Which got me thinking, banks spend so much money on
credit card promotion drives and roadshows, advertising and everything, but what
I’ve so often heard is when more than a few friends of mine try to apply for
one, time after time and from different banks… they get their applications
rejected. Makes you think that the banks should just save their money on all
those roadshows and just blardy get more applications approved for those
people who already sent in their applications.

And so life goes on.

Stand Up… for the Champions for the Champions
stand up stand up…

Do you have the Stand Up for the
Champions
MP3?

(If you have, please let me know. I want it… ~ muchos gracias ~ !)

Last time, long long time ago (yr 2000) I
downloaded the free pre-album release version mp3 Stand Up for
the Champions from the artistes` website..
But so many years alr.. I lost it
… :’ (

So, who`s the artistes? None other
than……

RIGHT SAID
FRED

So, with it re-emerging as this edition World Cup`s
anthem of sorts… it has gained prominence (the prominence it deserves)
again…
I’d like to say that… I saw it first…
but… the evidence (of the early version of the song) is not to be found…..
so, I’d let this just drop :D
Anyway, right now year 2006……. should already
have a lot of remixes out (dance version with the xtra bass… and so on and so
forth)

Speaking of which, here I’d like to give some
free promotion to one of my favourite performers …
Right Said Fred

In case you haven’t heard of them before, don’t
worry. They are the dudes responsible for iconic anthems such as
"I’m Too Sexy" being one of the most well-known of
them… You should have heard it before, somewhere, sometime, within your
lifetime.

Clubs would play their songs once in a while…
it’s those songs… those which you don’t know the singer don’t know the
name
… but nonetheless are ubiquitous to any club
setting…

……and so, let’s all stand up for
Fred!

All eager now for some samples of their
*marvelously easygoing* music? Not to worry again… you *have* heard at least
one before… probably the most recent one would be on… my Friendster profile
page itself! "I Love My Car"

Ironic thing tho`… is… I’m taking it off my
page as I write
this essay here! Because, I feel that the general public
demands that the content needs to be refreshed… and I really hadn’t done so in
a while… right?

So… now just have to wait for the "Next Change"
……………..But For Now… listen to the new song… and
enjoy………..

and… I’m too sexy… for this blog… (blog blog

PEMA `06

Saturday, June 24th, 2006

Hi
folks~!

It seems that the
articles are long overdue.

Well, as promised –
here are some
updates. Actually, got too much to
say
— but, as a tradeoff between: i) wanting to share with you
guys as many things as I can and in as much detail as I can — vs. — ii) not
updating at all because of too much of "wanting everything to be ideal" —– of
course, I have to just settle with updating you as much as possible.

And so, here
goes:

Just but one event (out of so many) recently,
PEMA `06 (Persidangan Makanan Antarabangsa 2006) — meaning International
Food Conference `06. What is
it?
A UN-endorsed cultural event under the auspices of UNESCO.
Or probably a TDC event. Or some Pee-nang state
celebration…

As it is said "A picture is worth a
thousand words" here’s several thousand words from the ever-loving me…
^_~

GTS (Great Teacher Sun)
and Clarence welcoming the UN conference members.

Myself, I was rather
well-equipped for the Batu Ferringhi location. As you can see my attire was
rather beachy
(pronunciation guide:
‘bi-chE : similar as in
:
bitchy). The venue was at
Ferringhi Beach Hotel. With respect to the actual beach location,
however… we were on the ‘wrong side of the road’..

Chen Kiat and Kang Song
! Chen Kiat is the dude to thank for sharing some vouchers for free buffet, thus
dollar-cost averaging down the total cost for everybody! Thanks

! ^___^ And… Kang Song was the one who came up with the initial
suggestion for the opening of the conference! Many
Thanks!

Kheng Keat and Melvin ! With these dudes…… life on ‘The

is ever more

We interrupt this
programme for a special announcement:
Escaped convict from
the nearby Pulau Jerejak Kang Phee Yeong was sighted at the PEMA `06 event.
Girls, be worried for your safety, and guys, be worried for your chastity. (This

And, yours

As I said…
I would love to talk more, but that is all the time that we have for this
edition, folks!

Next_episode1

Well, where is
this? I really would love to talk more… but that’s all the time we have for
today :’(

See you in the next

Kafka On The Shore

Tuesday, June 6th, 2006
First of all, a hearty THANKS!!!
to Sin Yue (syenhasa) for lending me the novel
"Kafka On The Shore".

Kafka On The Shore is a most engaging
read… Not your usual story, this is. Delve into a tale of the metaphysical,
set in contemporary society and popculture…

Originally written in Japanese by Haruki Murakami , the plot of Kafka On The Shore is
not those in your typical novels. As such, it is more refreshing… a real page
turner, you really want to find out what happens next and how it
happens.

One of the things that the author captures and
describes really well is the motivation or the feelings of the people when they
want to do something… what drives them to do whatever they do
urges such as curiosity, fear, shame, lust,
sex
.

I really like the style that the book is written
in… and the arrangement of the whole book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to
read something different from the often-too-straightforward novels/movies that
we are often subjected to.

Having said all that, I would like to have
the original Japanese book…… 海辺のカフカ, Umibe no
Kafuka .
